The Young Mind
Young minds today are developing under influences of unparalleled magnitude such as the use of prescribed and proscribed drugs, information technology and the devices it enables, the prospect of direct brain-computer interfacing, and changes in nutrition. A critical issue addressed at the Institute is not whether, but how, such new experiences will transform the developing mind.
The Ageing Mind
For the ageing mind, technological advances are set to have an unprecedented impact upon pathological processes. Technologies as diverse as pharmaceuticals, stem cell therapy and deep brain stimulation are widening the therapeutic options and interventions available in a clinical setting. Many of these medical technologies have the potential to cross over into lifestyle products, such as drugs which can enhance cognition or delete memories, or implants to augment our ability to interact with each other, computers, or our environment.
